Plaque

laque is a sticky and mostly invisible film of bacteria that continually forms on your teeth. This film is the primary cause of both cavities and gum disease, so it is very important to remove plaque daily. If allowed to remain on the teeth for more than 24 hours, plaque begins to calcify, or harden into a substance called "tartar." Once tartar has developed, only a professional cleaning can remove it.

To reduce the accumulation of plaque, brush your teeth at least twice daily to reach each hidden area between teeth and at the gum line. Use floss or an inter-dental cleaner and consider keeping these items at work as well, so that you can maintain your dental routine. Plan to visit your Dental Hygienist about every six months to help you maintain healthy gums and teeth.
