Intra-Oral Examinations
Intra-Oral
Intra-oral, or periapcal x-rays are radiographic images of a tooth and the surrounding structure, including the tooth root and jawbone. These images are typically used to look for cysts, abscesses, jawbone problems, or impacted wisdom teeth. If a patient appears to have a serious dental disease or has had substantial dental work in the past, a dentist may order a full mouth intra-oral x-ray to study the area. The amount of radiation received from this type of device is extremely low.
Appointment not necessary for people in pain.
