Fillings:
Fillings are used to
replace the decayed area of a tooth. When bacteria enters a
tooth, a cavity may form. This decayed material must be removed
to prevent the death and loss of the tooth. Dove Dental Centres are proud to say
that we do not use any filling materials containing mercury.
Since 1983,
a chemically accepted alternative has been available.
Once
the tooth is excavated, shaped and prepared the dentist will fill in
the space and reconstruct the tooth back to its original shape.
We accomplish this with the following materials;
- Gold (strongest and most
durable)
- Composite Resin
- Porcelain (can be used
anywhere in the mouth because of it's tensile strength)
Care After a Filling:
Congratulations! You have just had one or more
NEW WHITE fillings placed in your mouth. These fillings are
better-looking, better sealing and non-toxic. . . . But due
to different criteria in placement and adjustments they can CAUSE
SENSITIVITY.
Don't be Alarmed! If sensitivity, mainly to
cold persists after one or two days, your new filling(s) may need a bit
of adjustment.
Bite Explanation: These fillings are
different from silver fillings as they are hard and set-up before you
leave the office. We try very hard to correct your bite but
because of the freezing, fine adjustments are very difficult.
So . . . if you experience sensitivity for more than
two days CONTACT THE OFFICE at 679-DOVE
and schedule a short, painless bite adjustment (at no charge).
